PACE

PACE (Pathways to Arts and Cultural Employment) was introduced by Work and Income in 2001. It is a national initiative, designed to assist artists on a benefit towards gaining meaningful and sustainable employment within the creative industries.

While PACE is a nation-wide Work & Income scheme, it is regionally implemented – that means PACE services are developed to suit particular needs within each region in New Zealand.

Arts.Biz™ Ltd is contracted to Work & Income to work with clients on the PACE scheme in the Waikato region. As part of that service, Arts.Biz™ Ltd meets regularly with PACE clients – either one-on-one or via small workshops – to assist them towards developing the professional skills necessary to establish a sustainable career or small business in the arts industry.

PACE covers all arts practices, such as:

  • Visual arts and crafts
  • Performing arts
  • Music
  • Film and photography
  • Digital arts
  • Indigenous arts and crafts

Arts.Biz™ Ltd is not an employment agency. We do not replace your Work and Income case manager, and we do not provide advice about benefits. Rather, our job is to help you find the best path to use or apply your artistic skills to earn a living, and to mentor you through this process.

For more information about the PACE scheme in the Waikato region, or Arts.Biz™ Ltd services in general, please contact Lance Taylor, PACE Coordinator at Work & Income on lance.taylor003@msd.govt.nz
